Skill acquisition is far better than rote learning
Skill-Based Curriculum

A child becomes a lifelong learner by acquiring skills, not just by listening to teachers. That's why the curriculum at Mindseed focuses on developing crucial Foundation Skills for the ages of 2-6 years instead of spending time lecturing children on different 'themes'.
Why Skill Based Curriculum?
- An average toddler forms around 700 neural connections every second between the ages of one to three. That means she is learning 700 new things every second. Every second!
- Based on the latest scientific research, children learn best when they are practicing and exploring materials rather than just sitting and listening to a teacher. So rote learning and content memorisation will not help kids in future.
- The purpose of learning in the foundation years is to develop mastery in crucial skills such as reading, logic, concentration, and perseverance.

Mindseed focuses on 4 skill areas that encompass the child's complete development. In each of these skills, a learning path (called the Learning Arc) is designed for each child to help them to learn at their own pace. Each Learning Arc has more than 100 activities to help kids engage in hands-on learning.
- Physical Skills:
- Fine motor skills: This involve use of small muscles such as hand, fingers, and thumb. Useful for tasks like writing, drawing and buttoning.
- Gross motor skills: It involves the use of large muscles such as arms, legs, and other large body parts. Useful for tasks like running, jumping, kicking, throwing, etc.
- Math Skills: Math skills help a child to develop mastery in logic, shapes sorting, patterning, problem-solving and numeracy.
- Linguistic Skills: Helps a child to learn English as a language rather than a subject. Listening, speaking, reading and writing are the key constituents to master a language.
- Socio-emotional Skills: These skills help kids to get prepared for K-12 schools and life beyond. Independence, Sharing, Empathy, Compassion, Perseverance and Confidence are some of the key traits that kids learn.

Frequently Asked Questions

The curriculum designed at Mindseed helps children develop their foundational skills like Linguistic skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing), Numeracy skills (Pre math and number functions and operations) and socio-emotional skills. These will help equip a child to confidently face interviews for any educational board, whether it is CBSE, ICSE, IGCSE, IB or even State board.
An average toddler forms around 700 neural connections every second between the ages of one to three. That means she is learning 700 new things every second. And the neural connections she is forming now is what will lay the foundation for whatever she learns for her entire life. Skills build the ability in a child that they remember for the rest of their lives.
For example: Being able to read a simple sentence now - that's a neural connection on which reading long business reports will be built later. Being able to concentrate and finish beading 10 beads now is a neural connection on which concentrating through a three-hour meeting will be built later.
That is the power of the Foundation Years. And hence the purpose of learning in the Foundation Years should be to develop mastery in crucial foundation skills like reading, logic, concentration, and perseverance that are essential for success later in life.
No, the curriculum at Mindseed is skill-based and not theme-based. While theme-based learning teaches concepts in isolation, by learning skills, children gain the ability to correlate and have a context for learning.
For example - while learning colour sorting using shapes, children also learn the names of different shapes.
The skills that your child develops serves as the subjects learned at Mindseed. These are:
- Linguistic Skills: This helps in learning a language
- Whole Word Reading: Reading words without learning how to spell
- Phonemic Awareness: Recognition of letters of alphabet series and their sounds. Learning Phonemic skills help children to read with ease
- Pattern Writing: Learning patterns through stories that help form alphabets
- Writing: The child not only learns alphabets but makes words and sentences on her own
- Reading
- Listening and Speaking
- Show and Tell
- Numeracy Skills
- Pre math - Learning about shapes, patterns, sizes and sequences
- Numeracy - Learning about number counting, their functions, and operations
- Physical Skills
- Gross Motor Skills
- Fine Motor Skills
- Socio-emotional Skills
- Music and Movement
- Wet On Wet Painting
Linguistic skills is a collection of skills that help an individual learn any language. When you develop your linguistic skills, you learn how to listen, speak, read and write in that language, like the way you have learnt your mother tongue. Whereas, English language is the language that is spoken, read or written.
Maths is a subject that consists of concepts related to numbers, their functions and operations. Pre math skills precede Numeracy skills. It involves learning about sorting similar and different objects/shapes, learning to determine which objects or shapes are bigger or smaller, learning patterning and sequencing, etc. Numeracy skill, on the other hand, is the ability to understand and work with numbers to solve real-life problems. It means having the confidence and skill to use numbers and mathematical approaches in all aspects of life.
Do you remember how you learned your mother tongue? Didn't you first listen to your parents speak some words and you attempted to speak after them? Mindseed follows a similar approach while helping children learn English. Children learn the language naturally.
Just like how by looking at the McDonalds logo one identifies the name of the brand, we harness the child's photographic memory to help them identify their name during a unique attendance ritual and help them to read and write from the first day of school itself! You would wonder how a 1.5 years old PG child is able to
write? At Mindseed, scribbling is an important and the first step in writing. The scribbles gradually take shape and letters start appearing.
At the end of Nursery, a little Mindseeder is able to read and write his/her own name.
